Above is a photo of the operations office, apparently being vacated. It sure looks empty from the front door.
Don Ricks: Jerry. I remember flying 18050 while I was in the unit in 1970, until September of that year. If I am not mistaken, the airplane had an air conditioner and was one of the two planes with a conditioner used to fly General Abrams (Bill Peele and I were his pilots).
Jerry Jensen: Yes, 18050 was one of the several that had a “plush kit” installed. One of the plush–equipped aircraft was held on daily standby for COMUSMACV during my tenure as Operations Officer. Just because it was air–conditioned didn\’t mean that the heater worked. I recall one experience flying with the Maintenance Officer from Tan Son Nhut to Bangkok, at Flight Level 180, the heater wouldn't fire–up. It gets cold up there!
